Tip 6: Control Your Kelvins

Every light temperature has a specific purpose—the secret to managing ADHD is matching the Kelvin level to the task at hand. Next time when you want to buy a bulb, make sure you check the symbol Kelvin (K) and match it to your activity.

A 2014 Egyptian study established that low-quality, flickering artificial light can increase hyperactivity. Building on this, a 2023 US study on adults with ADHD revealed how light temperatures dictate brain performance. While 5000K (super cool white) overstimulates the mind into an anxious spin and must be avoided, other levels are highly functional. 4000K is the ultimate sweet spot for sharp, calm daytime focus, whereas 2700K safely winds down the nervous system, signaling that it's time to rest.
